STUDIES SHOW CBD MAY HELP RELIEVE CHRONIC PAIN AND INFLAMMATION

Help Relieve Chronic Pain and Inflammation with CBD

Studies on CBD oil and pain management have shown a great deal of promise. CBD can also offer an alternative for people who have chronic pain and rely on more dangerous, habit-forming medications, such as opioids.

Cannabidiol (CBD) as you know by visiting this site, is a pain relieving cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant that doesn’t induce the psychoactive properties of its THC brethren. Furthermore, CBD’s non-addictive attribute makes it the preferred substance for pain relief over many opioids.

CBD Regulates Cytokine Production in Immune Cells

One of its most significant and commonly used method for pain relief is its potential as an anti-inflammatory agent. As illustrated in a US National Library of Medicine & National Institutes of Health study,

“Cytokines are the signaling proteins synthesized and secreted by immune cells upon stimulation. They are the modulating factors that balance initiation and resolution of inflammation. One of the possible mechanisms of immune control by cannabinoids during inflammation is the dys-regulation of cytokine production by immune cells and disruption of the well-regulated immune response.”

In other words, cytokines regulate the immune system by either initiating or resolving inflammation. If a person experiences chronic inflammation, then it’s because their cytokines are out of balance, which CBD helps to regulate.

CBD Lessens the Impact of Inflammation on Oxidative Stress

According to another US NLM & NIH study,

“Oxidative stress with reactive oxygen species generation is a key weapon in the arsenal of the immune system for fighting invading pathogens and initiating tissue repair. If excessive or unresolved, however, immune-related oxidative stress can initiate further increasing levels of oxidative stress that cause organ damage and dysfunction.Targeting oxidative stress in various diseases therapeutically has proven more problematic than first anticipated given the complexities and perversity of both the underlying disease and the immune response. However, growing evidence suggests that the endocannabinoid system, which includes the CB and CB G-protein-coupled receptors and their endogenous lipid ligands, may be an area that is ripe for therapeutic exploitation. In this context, the related nonpsychotropic cannabinoid cannabidiol, which may interact with the endocannabinoid system but has actions that are distinct, offers promise as a prototype for anti-inflammatory drug development.

Similar to the above imbalance with cytokines, here we’re seeing that oxidative stress can cause organ damage or dysfunction, but can again be regulated by CBD.

CBD Reduces Intestinal Inflammation by Controlling Reactive Gliosis

In a 2011 study, it was found that,

“CBD targets enteric reactive gliosis, counteracts the inflammatory environment induced by LPS in mice and in human colonic cultures derived from UC patients. These actions lead to a reduction of intestinal damage mediated by PPARgamma receptor pathway. Our results therefore indicate that CBD indeed unravels a new therapeutic strategy to treat inflammatory bowel diseases.

Enteric glial cells (EGC) mediate acute and chronic inflammation in the stomach, and when these go out of whack they amplify the response in the Central Nervous System and immune systems. As stated in the study, “CBD is an interesting compound because of its ability to control reactive gliosis in the CNS, without any unwanted psychotropic effects[emphasis added].”

We at PureKana also think CBD is interesting! If you’re suffering from chronic inflammation, then check out our oilstopicalsgummies, and capsules to reduce your pain in a non-psychoactive way!

  1. CBD oil, orally, does work! I started with the 300mg bottle & it just didn’t help. I have OA, OP & severe chronic back pain due to a broken back & much deterioration. So I recently upped my dose to the 600mg bottle. It has noticeably helped. I am 77 yrs. old & feel I have finally found some relief for pain I have been fighting for fifteen years. Thank you PureKana

    1. Hello,

We do ship to the UK! It takes approximately 1-5 business days to fulfill an order and 1-4 for USPS to deliver! 🙂

  2. Is your CBD from organic hemp?
    Domestic grown or what country?
By what process is it extracted? Is your CBD oil tested by an independent lab?

    1. Hello,

Our plants are organically grown in Kentucky. Each batch is tested to ensure potency and we use a Co2 Extraction method.

  3. How well does CBD oil work for elderly people? I have a 93 year old father with degenerative arthritis in his lower back. Are dosages based on body weight or are dosages standard? Are there any other issues to be aware of for geriatric patients?

    1. Hello,

We do recommend speaking with a physician before ingesting with other medications. Recommend he start with the 600mg. potency. The recommended dose is 1/2 the dropper 1-2 times a day. If he does not get the desired relief within a day or two he can increase the dose as that is not harmful and essentially adds to the potency being absorbed. He can find what works best for him so if he finds that taking it in the morning and evening isn’t enough he can take it in the afternoon as well; our products metabolize differently in each individual. We also have a topical ointment which contains menthol so it gives an instant relief while the CBD absorbs into the skin.

    1. Hello,

For chronic pain we recommend the 1000mg. potency. Our topical ointment is also wonderful as it contains menthol so it gives an instant relief while the CBD absorbs into the skin.

  4. What would be the best oil for severe fibromyalgia pain. I do work where I am drug tested randomly, so I need to know if these oils would test positive

    1. Hello,

PureKana can not guarantee you will or will not pass a drug test as every drug screen is different. Our full spectrum products do contain .02% THC. We will be adding isolate based oils soon! The topical ointment is wonderful as it contains menthol so it gives an instant relief while the CBD absorbs into the skin. The best potency oil for chronic pain is the 1000mg. potency which is 25mg. per dose.

    1. For chronic pain we recommend the 1000mg potency. It takes approximately 1-5 business days to fulfill an order and 1-4 days for USPS to deliver. You can shop on the site! 🙂

    1. Hello,

We have many customers whom use it for neuropathy and chronic pain. I recommend the 1000mg. potency as it is best for chronic pain. The topical ointment would be good as well as it contains menthol so it gives an instant relief while the CBD absorbs into the skin. 🙂

    1. Hello,

PureKana can not guarantee you will or will not pass a drug test using our full spectrum products as they do contain .02% THC. We do have isolate based, meaning no THC, oils that will be available soon! Currently we have the gummies and the purepicks which are both isolate based! 🙂

  5. I got your email concerning cbd and sleep. The report contradicted itself, first saying that it would help sleep, then in the next paragraph stating it improved wakefulness, and inhibited REM sleep. Which is it?

    1. Hello Robert,

Our products metabolize differently in each individual. They don’t necessarily make you tired, however, they do help insomnia.

  6. How long does it take before I feel some results to a lower pain threshold?
I just started three days ago and I’m taking g half dropper full 2 x daily of 300mg?0

    1. Hello Arlene,

Our products metabolize differently in each individual. For pain we normally recommend a higher potency, try to increase the dose to a full dropper twice daily. We do have customers who take it in the morning, afternoon, and evening as they found that is what works best for them. It is not harmful to increase the dose as it essentailly just adds to the potency being absorbed.

  7. I am a victim of multi back surgeries, one of which was an A.L.I.F. placing titanium cages between the 3 bottom levels of my spine which turned out to be what the Surgeon referred to as a Total Collaspe and is not reversible. This surgery has been about 12 or so years ago now. Since then I have been turned over to a Pain Management Doctor. I have been on Morphine, Oxycotin, Oxycodone, as well as an implanted pain pump which I go in every 6 to 7 weeks and have this pump refilled with liquid very powerful pain medicine.
The bottom line is it is taking higher and higher doses of all this pain medicine to assist in my daily life in order to cope with the terrible pain I am in. I in no way would ever take one pill that is not prescribed to me, although I know all this pain medicine is actually killing me but if I try to back off of it and don’t take it, I hurt beyond belief.
That is the reason I am hoping so, so bad Tennessee will legalize medical marijania, cannibas oils , cream, gummies or whatever I can possibly use to help ease some of the terrible pain I deal with 24/7. Please someone out there give people like myself a chance to live just a little better life and stop killing my liver, lungs, and all my vital organs.I am wanting to try some of the cream just to see if it will help get me off some of the prescription medications. I would just love to be given the chance, please.

    1. Hello Emery,

  8. My dr prescribed oxycodone and Vicodin for my chronic pain fibromyalgia and other pain. I want to try the marijuana to get off the pain meds but I’m afraid if I try this and if doesn’t work I won’t be able to get my pain meds back.

    1. Hello Sheryl,

For chronic pain we recommend the 1000mg potency. The topical is wonderful as well due to it containing menthol so it gives an instant relief while the CBD absorbs into the skin. We do recommend speaking with a physician before ingesting with other medication though, so maybe your physician will approve you trying an all natural way to relieve your pain!
